Enterprise Project & Portfolio Management

(ePPM)

Innovation speed and reliability is a key must-have for PMI to win in a multi category environment. As the business becomes more complex, with increasing number of platforms with multiple types of innovation, it is key that we bring speed and reliability in the delivery. Innovations have a 30% share to revenue growth each year.  Thus, implementing better project management solutions is a top priority for PMI and this is where ePPM has a sweet and strategic role.

The ePPM team has been working with energy and dedication throughout 2021 to make these solutions a reality. They have worked together with stakeholders from across the entire business to pool knowledge and ideas, creating a spirit of collaboration and co-creation.  And then they have steered towards a common platform that delivers for project teams from development functions and market alike.

Their courage to steer the project relentlessly and at pace towards a common vision is a role model for others. And they are building a capability which will secure PMI’s future performance.

Ankur Modi, Global Head of Strategy & Program Delivery

The ePPM project team has been working during 2021 on new project management solutions which will enable project teams to deliver more reliably, thanks to best-in-class project management tools & practices, and so maximize productivity.

The ePPM team has been working together with groups across the Finance and IT community, development functions, and pilot Regions and Markets to co-create new tools and practices for project planning and budgeting; program and project management; team resourcing; management of risks and issues.

Through this, project teams PMI-wide will be better able to steer critical initiatives reliably on time, forecasting and mitigating potential disruptions.  Particularly, by eliminating duplications and administration; by introducing greater automation; and by developing new offshored project support capabilities, time is freed up to concentrate on core project activities and content.

In doing so, we will bring new technologies to life, but also use these technologies to drive insight into the performance of our projects and any management interventions needed – and eventually strive to move towards predictive analytics to anticipate and mitigate issues or delays.

As we pursue implementation in early 2022, the ePPM team will continue to put real focus on change management, effectively communicating the program vision, the shifts in ways of working needed – and making sure that we get the value by changing project management mindsets.

We thank you all for your active and enthusiastic collaboration through 2021, without which we could not have reached this point so quickly.  And we look forward to working with you again during 2022!
