Provide detail on the value your work created for the business, highlighting especially the role of Co-Pilot - or going beyond business as usual - your team played to make it happen (300 words)
PMI participated in the assessment for the 4th year in a row and has been significantly improving its score since then. After having achieved most of the early wins in the past years, in 2020 we were still on the third position behind BAT and Japan Tobacco.
As a result, project team needed to implement innovative approach and work even closer with the business to improve its score and performance in the more challenging areas. DJSI assessment is a joined effort of multiple functions and numerous SMEs.
First of all we exercised the change architect, we drove the change, working closely with SMEs and legal team to find the ways to address complex DJSI question We significantly improved performance Materiality, Risk & Crisis Management and Codes of Business Conduct – questions that were historically we were scoring very low.
Secondly, we exercised business acumen. We performed benchmarking against competitors and other industry leaders. We drove cross functional business planning, aligning different functions on common goal, gathering insights that can be obtained by joint effort of different functions. As a result we significantly increased scores in areas such as Human Capital Development, Talen Attraction & Retention and Customer Relationship Management.
PMI achieved a score of 84 points for its 2021 submission. That’s an increase of +10 points versus 2020. This allowed us to climb from the third to the second rank within the tobacco industry, and significantly narrow the gap with the industry leader (BAT, 86pts). We also learned from our experience and collected various insights to improve in 2022…which will hopefully enable us to achieve industry leadership in this rating moving forward!
Our success is the joint success of the project team and all the SMEs that participated! We want to say once again an enormous thank you for the all SMEs effort!!!
